Kathy Crotts has always loved the outdoors and it's inhabitants. Born in Austin, Texas, she grew up exploring the woods near her home in the Hill Country. The daughter of wildlife artist Sandra Williams, she has been involved in art of all kinds since she can remember. In 1977, Kathy and her family moved to St. Petersburg, FL. After finishing her education, Kathy worked in the insurance industry for over 15 years, earning her license as an agent specializing in the construction industry. She also worked for 3 years as a licensed travel agent, which gave her many opportunities to see the world. But always, she enjoyed being outdoors and painting or photographing her experiences. In 1996, Kathy began helping her mother at national art shows, setting up the booths and working them with her. The artwork she saw and the people she met were a great inspiration. She attended several artist workshops, studying under such prominent artists as Greg Beecham, Kobus Moeller, Tucker Smith, and Stephen Quiller. The workshops, held in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, also provided numerous opportunities for spectacular wildlife and landscape photography. In the summer of 1999, Kathy and her mother fullfilled a lifelong dream and purchased The Nature of Art Gallery in Historic Pass-a-Grille on St. Pete Beach. In December of that same year, Kathy quit her job as an insurance agent to concentrate on the gallery and her art full time. Kathy's specialty is her photography of wildlife and landscapes and she has created a successful line of original postcards and notecards to compliment the full size photos. Other passions include jewelry making and plein air painting. Her works are found in many private collections around the country as well as on the covers of several promotional publications. Kathy lives in St. Petersburg, FL. She shares her home with her husband Robert, a Chow-Chow, 2 cats, a White's Tree Frog, and a variety of fish both indoors and out. Her
love for nature and all of it's creatures is what motivates and
inspires her. "My work is a window into a small part of
that world, one the viewer can keep and enjoy forever".
